We will read Charlotte’s Web, a heartfelt story demonstrating the true power of friendship. We will learn about imagery, write our own mini-stories, and use our reader skills to analyze theme and characterization.
6-week Session Information:

Matilda by Roald Dahl
Grades 2-4
We will read Matilda, do fun activities, and dive into Roald Dahl’s world of storytelling. We will analyze character motives, recount our favorite moments from the book, and utilize our reader skills to make predictions.
6-week Session Information:

Holes by Louis Sachar
Grades 3-5
We will read Holes, and understand figurative language in addition to the usage of objects as metaphors in the story. This book will prompt lots of group discussion as we try to understand the hidden meanings of the story.

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Grades 6-8
Transitioning to a more discussion-based format, we will meet and breakdown parts of the novel, such as discerning the difference between the reality and fantasy presented in this book.
6-week Session Information:
11 am on Saturdays: 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Grades 9-12
We will uncover and discuss the relevance of the plot devices present in the book, and discuss/write our own epilogues to the story. We will also track character development, and try to understand their motives.
